Abstract
Objectives: This study aims to investigate the association between students¡¯ diet and oral health behavior and their parents¡¯ socioeconomic status (SES).

Methods: We analyzed data from the 2014 Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey. Living with parents, perceived economic status, and parents¡¯ education level were used as socioeconomic status variables, and the intake rate of cariogenic and protective diet, practice rate of oral health behavior, and incidence rate of oral health problems were analyzed. We conducted descriptive statistical analysis and a chi-square test based on complex sample survey data.

Results: 88.5% of the participants lived with their parents, and 48.3% described their economic status as middle class. The rate of students with parents with university-level education or higher was significantly larger than the lower level. Living with parents, higher perceived economic status, and higher education level of parents was associated with higher rates of protective food intake, oral health behavior, and oral health status (p<0.0001).

Conclusions: Socioeconomic status significantly influenced adolescent healthy diet and oral health behavior, and possibly affects their oral health in adulthood. Political plans are needed to formulate for counteracting health inequality issues in adolescents.
